The Conference theme of this year is

«Tradition and Neo-Tradition under uncertainty»

The modern world is developing through large-scale transformations, which entails the need for comprehension and theoretical generalization of socio-cultural experience, namely, the tradition, its potential in a situation of choice. Comprehension of tradition as a complex and multifaceted social phenomenon acquires special significance for the analysis of a number of theoretical issues and practical tasks. Both tradition and neo-tradition can be examined both at the epistemological and ontological levels. The approaches to solving the problems of choosing a tradition, reinterpreting traditions, updating or preventing breaks in socio-cultural continuity determine the prospects for social development.

The following issues are proposed for discussion:

  • The concept of tradition in science and philosophy;

  • Subject, object, and functions of tradition;

  • Ethical problems of the reproduction of traditions;

  • Political, social, family and other types of traditions;

  • Ethnocultural traditions and identity;

  • The problem of the relationship between the traditional and the modern. The phenomenon of neo-tradition;

  • Myth and logos of neo-tradition. New meanings, functions, and content of traditions in a situation of uncertainty.

We invite students, postgraduate students, and postdocs to take part in the conference.
